Our Story
C&W Summers was founded in Glasgow in 1848 by Charles Summers, at a time when the city was growing rapidly and demand for skilled glazing work was rising to match it.
What began as a small workshop in Calton, in the heart of the East End, has grown across six generations into one of Scotland's longest-established family businesses, relocating to its current home in Sydney Street where it continues to serve Glasgow and beyond today.

A Legacy Built on Craftsmanship
Over 175 years, C&W Summers has taken on glazing work of every scale and complexity. From domestic repairs and custom installations to large-scale restoration projects on some of Glasgow's most cherished buildings, the business has earned a reputation for precision, reliability and an uncompromising standard of work.
Notable projects have included the re-glazing of the Kibble Palace at Glasgow Botanic Gardens - involving over 13,000 individual panes of glass - and the full restoration of Tollcross Winter Gardens, where every pane was cut to a bespoke template to fit ironwork built by Victorian craftsmen using hand tools.
Six Generations, One Standard
The business has passed from father to son across six generations, weathering wars, recessions and the ever-changing demands of the trade.
Through each chapter, the same commitment to quality has endured. The tools have changed, the faces have changed, but the standard expected of every job, however large or small, has not.

What We Do
Today, C&W Summers offers a comprehensive range of glazing services for domestic and commercial clients across Scotland, combining the knowledge accumulated over generations with modern techniques and materials.
Whether you are looking to replace a single pane, install a custom shower screen or undertake a complex restoration, you are working with a team that takes its craft seriously.
